Mountain Research and BEAMS PLUS Dive into the Archives for a Fishing-Inspired Capsule

Adding to a long line of past projects, Mountain Research and BEAMS PLUS are back, this time, with a two-piece capsule inspired by Setsumasa Kobayashi’s dense archive of fishing apparel, among other uniform types.

The ‘Pack Vest’ and ‘Fisherman Cap’ are the latest styles to be brought into the pair’s collaborative universe, merging vintage silhouettes with a modern interpretation. The collection is spearheaded by the ‘Pack Vest’, a 12-compartment vest integrated with a teardrop-shaped backpack, fastened using side puckles. It boasts 3-way functionality, allowing the wearer to configure it to their liking or needs: it can be worn as a complete system with the vest and bag, or the bag can be worn on its own, and so can the vest. It is made using a nylon base, with a highly breathable polyester mesh lining, finished with utilitarian detailing bespoke to the collaboration, such as a cowhide ice-axed holder shaped like the brand logo. Next, the Fisherman Cap follows the collection’s theme, featuring a long visor and stowable sunshade for increased protection from the sun. Additionally, a glasses holder on the front panel offers a place to keep your sunglasses. Similar to the Pack Vest, the features mesh for increased breathability and quick-drying.
