White Mountaineering and Umbro's Third Collaboration Launches this Week
White Mountaineering and Umbro prepare to launch their third collaboration, building upon sportswear archetypes revisited through the Japanese brand’s design language.
Adding to its growing list of collaborative partners, White Mountaineering proposes a bridge between itself and Umbro to find common ground despite their differences. The range consists of outerwear, sports jerseys, sweatshirts, trousers, Henley tops, headwear, and more. The multi-pocket coat and cargo trousers are constructed using a high-performance waterproof fabric with a unique crinkled texture. This technical-leaning aesthetic is contrasted by the track jacket and easy pants, riffed from two sportswear silhouettes prevalent at any training ground or grassroots football pitch. White Mountaineering’s signature panelling creates an interesting construction on the latter styles, removing them from their original context. Next, a hooded sweatshirt, a lined muffler hat, a retro football jersey, and a long-sleeve top round off their apparel offering. Additionally, the duo reworks the ‘Motor A1’, a stalwart in Umbro’s lineup, in a synthetic tumbled leather with tonal detailing throughout, from the laces to the diamond logo on the sidewall.
