VISVIM Captures its Mud-Dyeing Process in 'HARMONIOUS PROCESS' Exhibition
Coinciding with its 25th anniversary, VISVIM is hosting an exhibition at Isetan Shinjuku Men’s and Ron Herman stores, portaying its mud-dyeing process, a natural method passed down through generations of artisans in Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture.
As is the way with several of VISVIM’s uniques processes, mud-dyeing is done by hand over and over to achieve a finish that cannot be replicated by machine or synthetic dye. The exhibition seeks to highlight this dyeing method. During the exhibition, a handful of pieces will be on sale, including the Skagway Lo, Excelsior II Cap, Jumbo Sweat, Jumbo Tee, Fishtail Parka, and more, alongside a booklet "Addendum to the Dissertation / Doro-Zome (Mud-Dyeing)”.
