adidas Future of Style Offers a Contemporary Interpretation of Utility for Spring/Summer '27
At Shanghai Fashion Week last week, adidas Future of Style, the Three Stripes brand's Chinese-led arm, showcased its Spring/Summer ‘27 collection, a contemporary take on utility.
For Spring/Summer ‘27, adidas Future of Style continues to explore the intersection of outdoor functionality, workwear, and sportswear, pushing for a unified language rather than separate entities. A shared narrative emerges around movement and comfort, with silhouette, construction, and styling carefully considered for their impact on how clothing fits into daily life.
With footwear and apparel styled together, we see silhouettes like the Guide Captain Approach debuting, nodding to archetypal climbing styles with asymmetrical lacing, protective toe construction, and heel pull loops, alongside the Urban Reverie Mary Jane - a reinterpretation of the classic Mary Jane through a sportswear lens, bringing an athletic sensibility to a traditionally feminine silhouette. The apparel is where adidas Future of Style’s renewed vision comes through, with outerwear, trousers, tops, and accessories marrying outdoor functionality with exaggerated workwear styling, especially evident on the runway. Key highlights include new utility workwear pieces with butterfly-inspired design elements and reversible construction, blending outdoor functionality with workwear-inspired structures.
