Edwin Celebrates the Iconic Sukajan Style in Latest Graphic-Laden Capsule
In their latest Spring/Summer ‘21 capsule, Edwin channels and celebrates the iconic Sukajan style adopted by the working-class youth of Japan that went on to become a symbol of rebellion in post-WW2 Japan.
‘Sukajan’ style refers to Souvenir Jackets, a style that has been frequently referenced by countless brands and designers over the years but were originally commissioned to American soldiers to commemorate their time spent serving overseas; they were later adopted by the youth of Japan and have become an iconic outerwear silhouette ever since. For Spring/Summer ‘21, Edwin casts a souvenir-style graphic depicting a map of Japan and Mount Fuji across a number of pieces including their ‘Survival Jacket’ and ‘From Japan’ shirt. The ‘Survival Jacket’ sees an iconic military silhouette with a multi-pocket design on the front and a souvenir-style graphic on the reverse, an homage to the iconic style once adopted by the Japanese youth. To compliment the jacket is a vacation-style shirt sporting a relaxed fit with an open-collar construction, featuring the same graphic on the reverse and ‘Edwin’ script embroidery on the chest.
The ‘Survival Jacket’ and ‘From Japan SS Shirt’ are both available via Edwin’s online store and select European stockists.
