WACKO MARIA Taps the Work of Jean-Michel Basquiat in their Latest Collaboration

The late Jean-Michel Basquiat has had his work frequently referenced in the fashion world by the likes of Uniqlo, COMMES des GARCONS SHIRT and, now, WACKO MARIA in a fitting, tasteful collaboration that honours the tone of both parties.

Never one to stray far from their graphic-laden garments, Tokyo-based label WACKO MARIA continue to craft statement pieces ideal for Spring and Summer. With a serious collaborative back catalogue that includes names like Nike and Carhartt WIP, they have appropriated some of Basquiat’s esteemed art work in this latest collaboration. WACKO MARIA elevates their classically cut Hawaiian shirts by featuring specific works of Basquiat including Obnoxious Liberals, Untitled (Head) and Untitled (History of the Black People) which give an inimitable touch to the garments thanks to the bold and colourful depictions of his portfolio. Made from 100% rayon, the shirts sport a lightweight and flowy construction typical of WACKO MARIA with their signature slim but tailored cut.

Available from their online store, although it is in hot demand.
