Estudio Niksen Reimagines Saucony's Trainer 80 in the Pair's Debut Collaboration
In its debut collaboration with Saucony, the Montreal-based label Estudio Niksen takes a textural directive to the Trainer 80, an archival silhouette steeped in long-distance running pedigree, in its first project with a major footwear brand.
The legacy of the Trainer 80 is maintained through styling and silhouette, while being brought into Estudio Niksen’s world using colour and texture play. Drawing on workwear references and the rhythm of slower outdoor living, earthy, sun-faded tones become the play, while tactile materials like hairy suede overlays, ripstop mesh uppers, and leather-lined interiors serve as the canvas on which Estudio Niksen leaves its mark. A zig-zag embroidered Saucony logo on the sidewall, contrast white stitching across the upper, and a hand-drawn river logo on the tongue further define the Trainer 80’s identity without overwhelming the silhouette. Final touches include interchangeable lace options and a custom graphic sockliner.
