OAO Unveils the All-New SUNLIGHT PRIMA Alongside its Low-Profile Alternative
Sitting at the intersection of aesthetics and cutting-edge comfort, the Japanese footwear brand OAO unveils its latest silhouette: ‘SUNLIGHT PRIMA’, an evolution of its SUNLIGHT PRIMA FLAT model, a low-profile alternative. Still cutting its teeth in the industry as an independent player, OAO is quickly ascending to rival those who have long dominated the space.
Now, joining its offering is ‘SUNLIGHT PRIMA’, a continuation of the Flat, featuring an original outsole designed exclusively for this model and following the upper design of its predecessor, with stitching lines echoing the supple curves of the bamboo ribs found in Isamu Noguchi’s light sculptures, AKARI. Engineered for urban use, the original midsole is made from two types of EVA: firmer on the outside for stability and softer on the inside for a comfortable, cushioned feel underfoot. There are three colourways to choose from: Blue, Black, or Brown. Lending its design language to the newcomer, the SUNLIGHT PRIMA FLAT is a low-profile silhouette built atop Vibram’s newest Furocup sole, a barefoot-style compound that does away with the usual aggressive rubber tooling. As with the aforementioned, uppers are constructed from leather or suede, with stitching running throughout.
