Ahead of its release next Friday, we explore NICENESS’ Autumn/Winter ‘25-26, focusing on weaving cultural elements into modern clothing.
Since its inception, the Japanese label has paved its own path, creating a sense of identity that is not bound by conventions or expectations. Its Autumn/Winter ‘25-26 collection, titled ‘Fictional Identities’, channels this by weaving character into each garment without losing sight of the brand’s intentions or aesthetic. Each product category is equipped with a cacophony of diverse pieces, across knitwear, shirting, leather goods, outerwear, and footwear, among others. Starting with outerwear, one of NICENESS’ fields of expertise, heavy floral fleece jackets, duffle coats, and long leather jackets front the selection. Similarly, its legwear offering consists of bottoms constructed from a mix of fabrics, experimenting with texture, and failing to conform to a single, defining shape - wide and slim are both appreciated. Bags are crafted from leather and take the form of playful canine silhouettes as well as weekend bags and leather totes with handles. Shirting and tops are complete with button-down checked shirts with chest pockets and daring Western-inspired prints. Knitwear plays a critical role in the collection, with button-up sweaters and mock necks acting as layering tools in transitional weather.
