DESCENDANT Releases a Bamboo Hat with Patches in Preparation for a Hot Summer

In anticipation of a hot Summer, DESCENDANT has released a wide-brim, woven bamboo hat - Ajirogasa - with customisable patches to keep the scorching sun off your face, neck, and shoulders.

The idea came to Tetsu Nishiyama during a paddle in Koajiro Bay, after passing through Koajiro Forest, when the designer questioned what apparel would be helpful in this circumstance under specific conditions: Ajirogasa, a woven bamboo hat typically worn by farm workers. The wide-brim design provides shade from the sun while the woven construction allows air to pass through, providing some natural breathability while retaining a traditional Japanese look. Additionally, there is an internal mesh headband for comfort and an adjustable chin strap. The customisable patches are sold separately, allowing you to mix and match to create a piece that is truly unique to you.
