Needles Surprises us with a UNQLO Collaboration

No stranger to collaborating with those under the Nepenthes umbrella, think, Engineered Garments in 2019, as well as UNDERCOVER and White Mountaineering, UNIQLO unveils its debut collection with Needles.

Despite operating at opposite ends of the spectrum, UNIQLO and Needles find a common ground, leveraging the behemoth Japanese retailers signature fleece and distilling it through Keizo Shimizu’s distinctive aesthetic. The result is a trio of fleece-infused styles, including the Fleece Jacket, Fleece Cardigan, and Fleece Wide Pants, all designed to adhere to Needles signature fit and form. Take the Fleece Cardigan, for example, a utilitarian take on the brand’s mohair cardigan, or the Wide Pants, a winterised variant of the Needles track pant with the side taping for effect. The collection fits in the parameters of UNIQLO’s democratic pricepoint, with prices ranging from $50 to $60, offering an affordable gateway into the Needles universe. The colour palette is refined, with just four colours to choose from across the range - black, dark grey, cream, and purple - with the Fleece Cardigan receiving a striped variant.
