Goodfight Channels Roden Gray for Their Collaborative Workwear Capsule
Los Angeles brand Goodfight teams up with long-time supporters and retailer store Roden Gray for their collaborative take on the “Full Service Sunday” suit, elevating the elegance of American workwear while fused playful aspects of weekend car meet-up culture.
The capsule collection is a return to the “Sunday Best” suit, which initially debuted in Spring/Summer ‘18 and consisted of a 3/4 sleeved coach jacket and split-front trouser. Goodfight designer Calvin Nguyen specifically references Taking Back Sunday’s song “Slowdance On The Inside”, paying an homage to “broken” things and their unconventional “backwards” approach to designing their debut collection. The highlight of the collection is their specially sourced deadstock cotton twill from a now-defunct North Carolina mill, resulting in a durable yet comfortable construction that naturally wears over time. The coach jacket utilizes a raglan shoulder design and extends the sleeves to full-length while sporting an inner power-net mesh lining. Functionality is further showcased with its removable skater-style belt that is compatible with the trousers. The relaxed straight fitting trousers exhibit drapery and welted back pockets, further emphasizing its classic look. Both pieces stay in line with one another with matching white contrast stitching throughout.
