Keizo Shimuzi and Daiki Suzuki of NEPENTHES Talk Past and Future Plans in special 30th anniversary interview

Keizo Shimuzi and Daiki Suzuki of NEPENTHES Talk Past and Future Plans in special 30th anniversary interview

With 30 years having gone by in a flash, Suzuki and Shimizu reflect on their journey thus far with NEPENTHES; which started back in 1988 on a quiet residential street of Jingumae, Tokyo, and has since opened locations in New York and Osaka. The pair, who met in 1982 whilst working at Redwood, discusses how NEPENTHES has evolved over time and how its umbrella of labels – NEEDLES, Engineered Garments and SOUTH2 WEST8, to name a few - have grown with it. In the feature they discuss how each of those has established their own positions as unique brands that are representative of the wider NEPENTHES brand.

3 years ago, in an interview with Keizo on their NEPENTHES site, he disclosed that, ‘I hope that one day we could open overseas branches of NEPENTHES other than NY.’ Admirers of NEPENTHES and the combined work of Suzuki and Shimizu will be pleased to learn they’re planning to open their first European store in London, at the beginning of 2019. The store will open on an old shopping street in Euston; combining Japanese elements with the traditional English interior.
