Hender Scheme and Artek Propose a Capsule Centered Around the Ageing of Natural Materials

United in a shared attitude towards craftsmanship, Hender Scheme and Artek propose a capsule collection focusing on the ageing of Finnish wild birch and vegetable-tanned leather.

Exploring how natural materials gain character through time and wear, the series includes Aalto’s iconic L-legs fitted with hand-finished leather ‘shoes’, a reworked Pendant Light A330, and a selection of interior accessories - from coasters and clocks to dishes and key covers. At the centre of the collection, Alvar Aalto’s L-legs are fitted with hand-finished, vegetable-tanned leather shoes’, borrowing the construction and detailing of Hender Scheme’s footwear. As the birch and leather age at different rates, each piece gradually develops its own character. The Pendant Light A330 is similarly reworked, replacing its conventional brass shade with wet-formed leather shaped through traditional craft and 3D-printing technology.
