New Balance's Tokyo Design Studio Unveils the MT2

New Balance Tokyo Design Studio has unveiled the MT2, the latest evolution in the Bostonian footwear brand’s ‘Minimus’ series, a barefoot-inspired line.

Building on the foundations of the MT10, the MT2 offers the same barefoot-like experience while providing the underfoot protection and support needed for off-road running. Improved traction comes from a round-lugged Vibram outsole; uppers are constructed from double-layered mesh for enhanced breathability; and synthetic overlays on the toe, saddle, and foxing areas reinforce weaker structural points. A Velcro strap is used over laces or a bungee cord adjuster to create a secure fit that wraps around the foot. Preferring a minimal platform, the MT2 uses some cushioning in the midsole for stability, without impeding on the shoe’s ability to promote natural movement. Upon launch, three colourways will be issued: Lime, Brown, and Orange.
