nanamica Reframes Polyester Through Japanese Craftsmanship in Mini Capsule
In its Spring/Summer ‘26 collection, nanamica released a handful of pieces made from polyester twill, and it’s shining a light on the process by which it is made.
Woven in Bishu, Japan’s historic wool-producing region, the fabric takes a material typically associated with sportswear and outdoor apparel and reworks it into something with a more tailored, structured finish. Polyester’s natural functional qualities – lightweight, wrinkle-resistant and quick-drying – are retained, but the material is elevated through traditional weaving methods usually reserved for more classic fabrics.
The result is a balance between performance and everyday wearability, where technical function meets a more refined, understated aesthetic. It reflects nanamica’s wider approach of using heritage production techniques to reframe modern materials for contemporary life, rather than replacing them. Featured styles include the Polyester Twill Club Pants, Club Jacket, and Deck Jacket, elevated takes on quintessential nanamica styles.
