A Closer Look at thv4gsb and Hanwag's Gritstone II GTX Hiking Shoe
In a meeting of alpine heritage and contemporary thinking, the Munich-based design studio, thv4gsb, leaves its mark on Hanwag’s classic Gritstone hiking shoe in a tasteful pink colourway.
As part of its strategy, Hanwag has been connecting and collaborating with those in the outdoor-lifestyle space, such as eyeC, Unowned Spaces, and, now, the independent studio, thv4gsb, known for its documentation of style and culture. Here, the Gritstone II GTX is the springboard for collaboration, utilising a textured pink suede upper, with mesh inserts, alongside function-forward features like GORE-TEX for increased breathability and a Vibram outsole for traction on trails and tarmac alike. Despite its changes, the Gritstone holds onto its original character, with the tooling and silhouette remaining untouched, a show of thv4gsb’s respect for this model. Hanwag and thv4gsb leave their mark on the heel, with a number on the tongue denoting that pairs code.
Releasing in highly limited numbers (just 70 pieces), each pair is individually numbered, and the first 40 pairs will come in a special box via thv4sb’s online store, with the remaining pairs releasing on Hanwag’s site.
