A-COLD-WALL* and Mackintosh Deliver a Function-Driven Capsule
Two icons in the current landscape of British design, A-COLD-WALL* and Mackintosh, have collaborated on a range of function-driven apparel that plays off the indifferences of both brands.
While they may appear at lengths with one another, operating on polar opposite sides of this field, they share a tenacity for craftsmanship that is embedded within these pieces. In this instance, a number of Mackintosh silhouettes have been interpreted through Samuel Ross’ clear function-minded lens that maintains the heritage of the British outerwear icon whilst adhering to a more futuristic vision. The range consists of a range of styles including, but not limited to, the Raintec Mac Coat, Raintec Overshirt and Raintec Cargo Pants, all of which are constructed from the same bonded cotton material with a water-repellent finish. In A-COLD-WALL* style, exposed taping, metallic hardware, laser-cut detailing and contrast panelling are all part of their industrial flair. Arguably the crowning piece of the range, the Handmade ‘Raintec’ Mac Coat, is a water-repellent long length coat with fully taped seams and a number of technical-minded details such as a back vent with concealed button and single-breasted wrap front construction. Like the aforementioned Mac coat, the majority of pieces are made from a soft-to-touch, water and windproof membrane called Raintec which is suitable for all seasons. Like the vast majority of Mackintosh garments, these have been handcrafted by expert craftspeople in Scotland.
