B Yohji Yamamoto Autumn/Winter '19

The latest entry into the designer’s ever-expanding black dressed universe, B Yohji Yamamoto delves far away from the ordinary ideal to craft a series of silhouettes that are as large in scale as they are depth. Titled “BEAST,” the various set of looks — though simplistic on their exterior — come informed by accentuated proportions and draping bodies.

Denim, as the most contemporary selection among the entire range, are nowhere close to the typical Type 3 trucker though their construction borrows the loose template of its slanted pleats and double pocketed chest. The same fabrication makes way across a paneled coat, though its long-line body could easily double as a dress: a statement that can be made about any of the collection’s breadth of outerwear. Down jackets are filled to their brim in a monstrous visual with fur ornamented hoods adding luxurious allure to otherwise standard coats. Few sport hems misaligned, some feature hoods that cowl in utmost protection, and others add modular forms of binding across their black — shirting follows similar execution, making for a set of style so pleasingly congruous with one another.
